Here's What Veterans Want in Their Civilian Careers

“Savvy employers know that military veterans often hold the solution to their continuing struggle to attract and retain high-quality talent. They understand that military-experienced personnel possess skills, attitudes and abilities beyond those of most people who have not served. Thus, veterans can add disproportionate value to any team or organization.”

The Hire More Heroes Act is misguided. There is no veterans’ unemployment crisis.

“Americans may be shocked to learn that there is no veterans’ unemployment crisis. The unemployment rate in 2014 for post-9/11 veterans was 7.2 percent, the lowest level in seven years of tracking these veterans. ”

What Government Should Actually Do To Support Veterans' Employment

“The latest crisis at the Department of Veterans Affairs has called into question again the proper role of government in the care of our veterans. Whereas healthcare is clearly in shambles, veterans’ employment is another realm in which well-meaning government involvement has been inefficient at best and ineffective or counterproductive at worst. ”

Employment and Returning Veterans

“Peter Gudmundsson talked about the availability of jobs for returning service members.”

Beyond Altruism

“Among the fondest memories Peter Gudmundsson ’85 has of his three years as an active-duty U.S. Marine officer was the time in 1987 when, off the coast of Vietnam, he stood on the deck of a U.S. Navy ship looking up at the Soviet planes flying overhead. What was particularly memorable, he says, was not the plane flying overhead, but the reaction of the men in his platoon”

Money For Lunch

“Money for Lunch host Bert Martinez interviewed Peter Gudmundsson. Discussed veteran hiring.”

Helping veterans overcome job search challenges

“Mike Rollins is featured on America Now. Recently, America Now visited a RecruitMilitary job fair held at the Hurst Conference Center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ”

Employers step up to the plate for veterans at Turner Field

“by John Brieske Almost everyone agrees that the men and women in uniform deserve our support while they’re serving in the U.S. military. But what about when those folks are transitioning from the military to a civilian life? The people at RecruitMilitary LLC, want to help. The Cincinnati-based organization – along with The American Legion, Purple Heart Services and the Military Spouse...”

TN veterans face tough battle to find employment

“By Naomi Snyder Terry Pack was an aircraft mechanic serving in the Army in Iraq, spending two of the last six years in combat overseas. Now that he's done his service for the country, he can't even get a job doing oil changes at Sears. "It's tough,'' said the unemployed Clarksville veteran, who was honorably discharged in January. "I've been looking for any job." A congressional hea...”

Job Fair Focuses on Opportunities for Veterans

“Chris Sweigart Reporting - The number of laid off workers making their first claim for unemployment benefits was down slightly in November compared to last year, the Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday. According to the Georgia Department of Labor 72,298 people filed for unemployment in November of 2009. That's down 2.9 percent compared to November of 2008. Thursday, the focus...”

Veterans and Jobs

“Matt Murphy, RecruitMilitary's Senior VP of Business Development and Sales is a guest on Washington Journal to talk about a recent report that shows the jobless rate for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is over eleven percent. He talks about connecting employers, educational institutions, and franchisors to veterans because of their character, skills and training, diversity, and securi...”

I went with a hope that something was available for me and was surprised at the amount of opportunities. I have a phone interview this week with a great company and have 3 other companies I am in talks with.
Atlanta Expo Attendee
There were employers that I had never heard of before at this event. This gave exposure to vendors like McKesson and GA Dept of Public Safety in two separate industries I had not considered previously as potential sources of employment.
Atlanta Expo Attendee
The entire Expo was well put together. It started on time, was well explained, and we were allowed as much time as we needed with each company. The expo area was well placed with a variety of companies. It was not crowded and all the companies were very friendly and made time for you. It was well worth the 26 mile drive into the city. Support staff was very polite and helpful. I will recommend this to all our men and women in uniform.
Atlanta Expo Attendee
Overall, the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo was a great experience. I phoned my friends and told them to attend any RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expos held in their area.
Atlanta Expo Attendee
RecruitMilitary always provides outstanding candidates in a great venue. Always an outstanding event in comparison to others.

Good value for the investment. Good quality candidates.
HR Manager, Energy Industry, past Atlanta Exhibitor
I rate the event very high. It was well organized and put together. The candidates came very prepared and presented well.
HR Manager, Defense Industry, past Atlanta Exhibitor
Better than most and the best of the military specific veteran recruitment and placement companies. Very well organized.
Recruiter, Engineering & Project Management, past Atlanta Exhibitor
The expo was excellent! I received several job offers. I accepted a position at Waste Management as a route manager making twice as much as I did when I was a corporal in the Marines. I would recommend it to any returning vet.
Marine Veteran, Feb. 2013 Atlanta Attendee
I attended the Veteran Opportunity Expo at the Georgia Dome on Feb 28, 2013. Fortunately, a logistics/transportation company was in need of veterans with my skills and experiences. They called me the very next day and scheduled a phone interview, followed by an interview in person which lead to me being hired into a management program.
Army Veteran, Feb. 2013 Atlanta Attendee
This was by far the best career fair I attended in the four months I was unemployed. The quality of employers and jobs available was unmatched. In addition I felt that the recruiters at this event were taking their jobs much more seriously than recruiters at other career fairs.
Army Veteran, Feb. 2013 Atlanta Attendee
I had all but given up on career fairs, but the attention and detail by RecruitMilitary and the caliber of exhibitors prompted me to attend. It turned out well. We made contact, went through a thorough interview process that included 2 in-person and a few online assessment interviews. The last in person interview produced a job offer.
Navy Veteran, Feb. 2013 Atlanta Attendee
Excellent event! I lost my job last week but because of this event, it looks like I may be back to work as early as in a few weeks, plus getting free training!
March 2014 - Veteran Job Seeker, Army National Guard - E6
Quality of event is first class. This is always a great expo.
IT recruiter -- 2/20/14 Atlanta Career Fair
The organization was superb. The information provided was expansive and met all my needs on a timely basis. This was my first one but it won't be my last!
Financial Services recruiter -- 2/20/14 Atlanta Career Fair
Good open dialogue with exhibitors. I hope to not need to attend another job fair, but if I do it would be with RecruitMilitary.
2/20/14 Atlanta Career Fair -- Army E-4
RecruitMilitary continues to be the best career support service in town. Thank you for giving the best to those who willingly committed to making the ultimate sacrifice for fellow countrymen and country.
2/20/14 Atlanta Career Fair -- Navy E-8
I received a job that very day!
1/30/14 OKC Career Fair -- Army E-6

I was able to secure four interviews directly related to this expo. Thank you!
6-26-14 Atlanta Career Fair -- USAF E-7
This was the best expo I have attended in the past 9 months. Higher quality employers were present and engaging.
6-26-14 Atlanta Career Fair -- Navy E-5
I talked with a number of companies at the Expo. The representatives were knowledgeable and I already have two interviews for next week. Your job fair organizers do an excellent job of promoting these events and lining up quality companies who are committed to hiring veterans. Keep up the outstanding job you are doing.
6-26-14 Atlanta Career Fair -- Branch/Rank not provided
Four of the people I spoke with today could come work for me tomorrow! Great event!
August 2014 Employer -- Financial Services recruiter
Do your research and dress for the occasion. Bring at least two different resumes, one which targets the job you are trying to land. The other should be a more broad based, generic one highlighting all of the jobs skills you have.
Nov 2014 Attendee -- Navy E-7
The recurring role of "talk to everyone" is extremely important and should be embraced by each job seeker. Please continue to stress the importance of networking, not only with the recruiters but with fellow job seekers to increase the likeliness of finding a hidden opportunity.
