Veteran Opportunity Expo Cancellation Policy

RecruitMilitary does not offer refunds. If an exhibitor is unable to attend a Veteran Opportunity Expo (“Expo”) for which it has already registered, RecruitMilitary will make every effort to allow the exhibitor to attend a future Expo, provided the exhibitor attends the Expo within twelve months of the Invoice Date. However, to qualify, RecruitMilitary must receive a cancellation request at least ten business days' prior to the date of the Expo for which you were registered. Unpaid invoices must be paid whether or not the exhibitor attends the event for which it originally registered. Cancellation requests must be sent via e-mail to expos@recruitmilitary.com, and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. If a cancellation request is received fewer than ten business days before the Expo, or if the exhibitor does not show up at the Expo at all, then that exhibitor will not be entitled to transfer its registration to a new Expo.

At a Veteran Job Fair, you can begin the selection process with what is normally one of the final stages of a face-to-face meeting with the candidate. We present these events in cooperation with leading corporations, news media, industry associations, veterans organizations, and government agencies. All Veteran Job Fairs take place in major military markets. To attract job candidates to the fairs, we promote the events intensively to our huge database of registered candidates, and we run display ads in major newspapers in the areas where they will take place.

Why Hire Veterans?

If you are not familiar with hiring veterans, we would like to share three reasons why military personnel will make great employees for your organization:

  • Well-trained. Veterans possess skills that are critical for an organization to succeed. They are trained to be mission-oriented and to work as a team. They possess critical skills for organizational success including discipline, responsibility, respect, and unparalleled work ethic.
  • Skills that overlap. Veterans have been trained in specific skills that greatly overlap civilian work. Whether driving an 18-wheel tractor-trailer or leading an organization in an executive position, the military provides people with the training to be successful in trades, as well as the experience and conditioning required for management positions.
  • Diverse backgrounds. The military employs a highly diverse workforce. Approximately 45% of our candidates are women and/or ethnic minorities, enabling you to connect with skilled and diverse candidates through our events.

The Hire More Heroes Act is misguided. There is no veterans’ unemployment crisis.

“Americans may be shocked to learn that there is no veterans’ unemployment crisis. The unemployment rate in 2014 for post-9/11 veterans was 7.2 percent, the lowest level in seven years of tracking these veterans. ”

Recruit Military hosting all-veterans career fair on August 7 at Minute Maid Park

“MyFox Houston (Fox26) - Jarod Myers was interviewed on the early morning news program.”

What Government Should Actually Do To Support Veterans' Employment

“The latest crisis at the Department of Veterans Affairs has called into question again the proper role of government in the care of our veterans. Whereas healthcare is clearly in shambles, veterans’ employment is another realm in which well-meaning government involvement has been inefficient at best and ineffective or counterproductive at worst. ”

Employment and Returning Veterans

“Peter Gudmundsson talked about the availability of jobs for returning service members.”

Beyond Altruism

“Among the fondest memories Peter Gudmundsson ’85 has of his three years as an active-duty U.S. Marine officer was the time in 1987 when, off the coast of Vietnam, he stood on the deck of a U.S. Navy ship looking up at the Soviet planes flying overhead. What was particularly memorable, he says, was not the plane flying overhead, but the reaction of the men in his platoon”

Money For Lunch

Veterans job fair huge success

“Houston CW 39 (KIAH-TV) - More than 800 former veterans and their families filled Minute Maid Park at the Hiring Our Heroes event in hopes of landing their next job. Job fairs catering to our country’s veterans have become more frequent recently, and for good reason. The men and women who risked their lives to fight for us, shouldn’t have to be fighting for a job too. ”

Veterans get exclusive access to job fair

“Houston ABC 13 (KTRK) - A lot of Americans are struggling to find jobs, but the search can be especially challenging for veterans adjusting to life out of uniform. On Thursday, they took a step forward at a job fair with employers looking for their unique skills. ”

Companies set up shop to hire our heroes: Military veterans crowd Minute Maid Park

“KPRC-TV NBC 2 - Dozens of companies and organizations set up shop at Minute Maid Park for a chance to hire military veterans from every branch. Hundreds of military men and women stood in line at the park Thursday for a chance to apply for a job.”

Event Helps Vets Find Jobs

“Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expo in San Diego draws more than 500 veterans and military spouses to network with 50 organizations that were on site.”

TN veterans face tough battle to find employment

“By Naomi Snyder Terry Pack was an aircraft mechanic serving in the Army in Iraq, spending two of the last six years in combat overseas. Now that he's done his service for the country, he can't even get a job doing oil changes at Sears. "It's tough,'' said the unemployed Clarksville veteran, who was honorably discharged in January. "I've been looking for any job." A congressional hea...”

Who’s Registered?

This event allows for a rare opportunity to meet face to face with companies looking to hire. I distributed resumes and already received an email this morning from an employer looking to potentially bring me on to their staff.
Houston Career Fair -- Attendee
The employers all seemed more eager to help you figure out how you could fit into their company. Other career/job fairs the employers just tried to figure out why you didn’t fit their company.
Houston Career Fair -- Attendee
Blows away the competition. Very good event! Very impressive group of potential candidates. Excellent accommodations.
Houston Career Fair -- Transportation Industry Recruiter
Great candidates. Professional presence at the event, friendly and helpful staff, good communication throughout the day.
Houston Career Fair -- Retail Industry Recruiter
RecruitMiltary events are 1st rate. They attract a good candidate field which is essential to filling needed talent.
Houston Career Fair -- Logistics Industry Recruiter
This event exceeds other job fairs in the caliber of job seekers that turn out. The skills we found at this event were precisely the ones we need.
Houston Career Fair -- Oil & Gas Industry Recruiter
It was refreshing not having to try to work into the conversation that I am a veteran.
Houston Career Fair -- Attendee
A majority of the exhibitors had personnel present that were prior service and could help translate military skill sets in person.
Houston Career Fair -- Attendee
This was hands-down the best job fair that I have ever attended.
Houston Career Fair -- Attendee
Excellent event! I lost my job last week but because of this event, it looks like I may be back to work as early as in a few weeks, plus getting free training!
March 2014 - Veteran Job Seeker, Army National Guard - E6
Exceeded all expectations and just simply gets better each year.
Houston Career Fair -- Education Recruiter
I received a job that very day!
1/30/14 OKC Career Fair -- Army E-6
My experience with RecruitMilitary has been outstanding. I would highly recommend RecruitMilitary to others employers as well as veterans.
Houston Career Fair -- Government Recruiter
Very good event and aimed at a very good demographic. Will be attending more in the future. Much better than other job fairs! The skill sets of the candidates were a very close match to what we like to see in employees.
Houston Career Fair -- Energy & Utilities Recruiter
Really impressed as always!!!! The other events don't or can't match up to what Recruit Military does. Every event is thought out, planned, and properly executed with a variety of "this & that" for everyone there!!! "Great job" goes out to the staff!!!!
Houston Career Fair -- Education Recruiter
Four of the people I spoke with today could come work for me tomorrow! Great event!
August 2014 Employer -- Financial Services recruiter
Do your research and dress for the occasion. Bring at least two different resumes, one which targets the job you are trying to land. The other should be a more broad based, generic one highlighting all of the jobs skills you have.
Nov 2014 Attendee -- Navy E-7
The recurring role of "talk to everyone" is extremely important and should be embraced by each job seeker. Please continue to stress the importance of networking, not only with the recruiters but with fellow job seekers to increase the likeliness of finding a hidden opportunity.
1-15-15 San Antonio Career Fair attendee (Army O-3)
The sheer size and number of companies involved definitely increases the networking opportunities as well as chances to land an interview. It was the biggest and best job fair I've attended so far. Highly recommend attending the next one.
Houston Career Fair -- USAF E-6
The US Military has produced some great candidates for the employment pool. The skill set and professionalism instilled in these applicants make a great match for our organization.
